Dr. Skinner, a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology, is the founder of The Advanced Institute For Oral Health and is engaged in full time private practice of periodontics and implantology in Brentwood, Tennessee. Dr. Skinner has over 18 years of experience dedicated strictly to periodontology and implantology.
Dr. Skinner graduated from University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1986, and obtained his Certificate of Specialty in Periodontics from the University of Tennessee in 1988. During his training at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Skinner’s exemplary scholarship was recognized by the Certificate of Honor and inclusion in the Dean Honorary Society. Dr. Skinner attended the prestigious MISCH Implant Institute for post doctoral implant training, and is extensively trained in the Nobel Biocare Implant System including the new revolutionary procedure: CAT scan guided implants, and was one of the first doctors to bring this procedure to the country. Dr. Skinner is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.  Dr. Skinner has received the prestigious Sidney S. Freidman Award for excellence in the field of periodontics. Dr. Skinner is a national leader in the field of Computer Guided Tooth Replacement and in oral DNA testing, which helps stop the advancement of gum disease offering patients a possible alternative to periodontal surgery.  Dr. Skinner has been featured in numerous print and live news features on oral health, cosmetic procedures, and implant dentistry, and frequently lectures on oral health topics including periodontal disease, smile enhancement procedures, and implant tooth replacement. He is also one of only a handful of dentists selected to provide treatment for patients featured on ABC\'s hit reality TV show, \"Extreme Makeover\".   Dr. Skinner also works with dental education companies to provide video education of his revolutionary procedures to dentists and specialty dentists throughout the world.  Dr. Skinner is the founding director of the Pinnacle Study Club of Nashville, which is a charitable study club comprised of over 40 elite dentists.
